At this past weekends D23 Expo, Marvel brought down the house by showing the first footage from Avengers Infinity War. MCU chief Kevin Feige took the stage, introducing the big bad Thanos himself with Josh Brolin coming on stage and the entire cast joining soon after. The footage highlights included the Guardians meeting Thor, Spider-Man with his Spidey sense, Loki holding the Tesseract, Cap with a beard and, the icing on top, Thanos throwing an entire moon at the Avengers. The sneak peek was given to an overwhelming response from the fans who said it looks to be a truly epic culmination of what Marvel promised back in the first Iron Man. Avengers Infinity War debuts in theatres May 4th, 2018.

Disney released a new behind the scenes video and character posters for Star Wars: The Last Jedi at this past weekend’s D23. The video gave fans all new looks at the characters we were introduced to in The Force Awakens, as well as highlighting all new creatures and settings director Rian Johnson will be unveiling later this year. The movie stars Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Carrie Fisher, and Andy Serkis. The film is scheduled for release on December 15, 2017.

It’s Monday which means it’s time for the weekend box office report. Fox’s War for the Planet of the Apes took the No 1 spot in its opening weekend pulling in an estimated $56.5 million and opening a bit higher than the studio’s conservative expectations. Finishing in second is Sony’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, which dropped 61% in its second weekend with an estimated $45.2 million as its domestic total now grows to over $208 million in its first ten days of release. Despicable Me 3 took the No 3 spot with an estimated $18.9 million as its domestic total is now at $188 million. Baby Driver dropped just 33% in its third weekend in release, taking the No 4 spot with an estimated $8.75 million bringing its domestic total to $73.1 million. And rounding out the top 5 was Lionsgate and Amazon’s The Big Sick.

Disney has revealed the first trailer for A Wrinkle in Time, the sci-fi/fantasy film that marks Selma director Ava DuVernay‘s highly-anticipated debut in blockbuster filmmaking.
